Agribusiness Management Degree

Combine your passion for business and agriculture with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Agricultural Science, with a focus on Agribusiness Management. The University of Central Missouri鈥檚 undergraduate degree in Agribusiness covers everything from the field to the table to the boardroom 鈥 helping you gain knowledge and skills related to agricultural production, finance, management and marketing.

The agricultural industry faces complex and multifaceted challenges today. The industry needs professionals with both business and agriculture savvy, so that farms grow, harvest, manufacture and distribute commodities on time. 

Our undergraduate program provides you with a solid foundation in agricultural sciences, business, economics and statistics to prepare for Agribusiness degree jobs in farming, natural resources and government. 

An Agribusiness degree with online courses

Besides the traditional full-time program on our Warrensburg campus, we offer some classes online. You also have the option of enrolling part time for added flexibility in completing your bachelor鈥檚 degree in Agribusiness.

What you will study

Pursuing agribusiness careers means applying business and economic principles to the production and marketing of food and agricultural products, as well as the management of natural resources.

Agribusiness management students take coursework in commodity and futures trading, distribution and marketing of agricultural products and financial analysis. Practical, real-world experiential learning is a foundation of the Agribusiness management program. You鈥檒l take courses such as:

  • Agribusiness Management: Choose a company and identify market structures, study product lines and perform SWOT analyses to define strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
  • Agriculture Policy: In this upper-level course, you analyze a bill being debated in the Missouri state legislature to determine its economic impacts if it becomes law.

  • UCM farms: Hands-on experiences are essential for Agribusiness Management majors. Our Agriculture program boasts two greenhouses, a nursery complex and two farms 鈥 both of which are designed for interactive labs and student projects. 
  • Internships: All UCM students working toward their degree in Agribusiness Management take part in an internship with an agency, business or other agricultural organization. Acquire valuable business and agricultural knowledge and skills that prepare you for countless agribusiness careers. 
  • Field trips and guest speakers: Throughout the Agribusiness degree program coursework, UCM undergraduate students gain wisdom and insight by hearing from industry leaders. Take field trips to various agricultural companies or government agencies to learn more about running an agriculture-related business.
