Graduate Student Scholarships

Apply for Multiple Scholarships with a Single Online Application

UCM Scholarship Finder is the University's online system that makes it easy and convenient for students to apply for all UCM Alumni Foundation Scholarships established by generous friends of the University. Online application instructions and details about individual scholarships are provided in the . Simply fill out a single application that is automatically submitted toward all eligible scholarships! The application for the 2024-2025 academic year will be available on September 15, 2023. Complete your application for scholarships before the priority deadline of Feb. 1, 2024 for your greatest chance of being selected. The scholarship application closes on March 15, 2024.

Graduate Student Achievement Award

This award waives $500 of the recipient's Fall and Spring fees. The award is based on high academic achievement and leadership qualities. Students who receive a full-time Graduate Assistantship are not eligible for a Graduate Student Achievement Award.

Graduate Non-Resident Scholarship

Covers the non-resident fees for graduate study at Central Missouri for all students enrolling no later than the fourth semester following graduation from an undergraduate program at Central; the student must have earned a minimum of 69 hours at Central Missouri with a 3.0 or higher UCM GPA; renewable for six semesters if student maintains a graduate GPA of 3.4 or higher. Reid Hemphill Award

This cash award is given to the university's outstanding graduate student. The award was funded and established by Dr. Reid Hemphill, Central Missouri's first Graduate Dean. Nominations are made by faculty members to their deans. The deans of UCM's colleges then nominate one student from the college for the award. The recipient is selected by the Graduate Council.

UCM Bound Out of State Scholarship

Don鈥檛 let out-of-state tuition keep you from studying at UCM.  With the UCM Bound Out-of-State Scholarship, students in the following states will have the non-resident portion of their fees waived at UCM. These states include the eight states that border Missouri and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association Conference (MIAA) border states.

Texas

Value: 100 % of non-resident fees.

Eligibility: Regularly admitted (not provisionally admitted) undergraduate, and Master's Degree-seeking graduate, students whose permanent legal residence is located in one of the above states AND is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Recipients of the UCM Bound Out-of-State Scholarship may not also receive the Second Generation Grant, Non-Resident Fee Credit, Midwest Student Exchange Program, Non-Resident Scholar Award, non-resident fee portion of the UCM Educational Development Program, or other programs that cover all or partial non-resident fees.

A credit equal to the non-resident portion of tuition fees will appear on the UCM account of UCM Bound Out-of-State Scholarship recipients.  

Renewability: Automatically renewed for students who maintain legal residence in one of the above states and aren't recipients of other programs that cover all or partial non-resident fees.

Do I have to be a full-time student to receive a UCM scholarship?

Most of the UCM scholarships require full-time enrollment (earning a minimum of 9 (nine) Graduate hours per semester at UCM).

Can my conduct affect my UCM scholarship eligibility?

Scholarships may be reduced or canceled if the recipient fraudulently misrepresents any information or engages in serious misconduct warranting substantial disciplinary penalty.

Submitting Scholarship Checks to UCM

If you are the recipient of a scholarships sponsored by a civic organization, employer, church, etc., please instruct the sponsor to make the scholarship check payable to University of Central Missouri and forward it to:

If the sponsor provides you with the scholarship check:

  1. Endorse the check if it is made payable to you.
  2. Attach the check to a photocopy of the award letter and any supporting documents.
  3. Bring the check and photocopy documentation to Freshman Orientation and Enrollment or mail/deliver them to the Student Financial Services Office.

Caution: If the scholarship check is made payable only to you, you will need to deposit it to your personal account (or cash it) to use for any educational expenses you may have.

When we receive your scholarship check, we will credit your UCM student account. The amount of the scholarship check will be divided evenly between the Fall and Spring semesters unless otherwise instructed in writing by the scholarship sponsor.
