UCM Only Missouri Institution Recognized for Most Affordable MS in Library Science

WARRENSBURG, MO – The University of Central Missouri was the only institution in Missouri to recently be ranked by Learn.org for having one of the “.”

 

UCM was ranked 15th by Learn.org, based on a methodology which assessed data from hundreds of colleges and universities across the United States with regard to academic and career resources, quality of faculty, cost, value and another other factors critical to students’ academic decisions. This data came from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education and the National Center for Education Statistics, and includes tuition statistics from the 2018-2019 academic year.

 

The longest-running program of its kind in Missouri, UCM offers a Master of Science in Library Science and Information Services that is available online to help students to prepare for careers as school librarians. This degree builds upon prior educational coursework and supports an individual’s growth as an educator by helping them learn how to acquire, evaluate, and use information and the most current technologies available. It helps to improve teaching skills, whether it be for a K-20 classroom, library, or for someone involved in the military or corporate training. Additionally, the degree is ideal for a school leader and someone who wants to be prepared to serve in roles as an elementary, middle or high school librarian or be a district library leader.

 

UCM’s MS in Library Science and Information Services also has been recognized as one of the top Master of Library Science programs in the nation by Intelligent.com, and one of the best online master’s degrees for Library Science by Online Schools Report. The MS in Library Science and Information Services curriculum has been approved by the American Association of School Librarians (a division of the American Library Association) through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

 

Students who want to expand their opportunities in library science also can pursue the entirely online Professional Leadership, Education Specialist – Librarianship Option.
